IInternationally acclaimed operatic soprano and recording artist Kallen Esperian, accompanied by UM Professor of Music Stacy Rodgers (piano), will perform selections from her Art Song repertoire, as well as aria "chestnuts" from Verdi and Puccini operas. She will be joined by members of the UM Voice faculty (Dr. Bradley Robinson, Ms. Julia Aubrey, Ms. Nancy Balach, Ms. Cynthia Linton, Dr. Jos Milton, Ms. Jennifer Robinson, and Ms. Amanda Johnston) on two exciting opera ensemble selections.

Kallen Esperian, Artist in Residence in the Department of Music at the University of Mississippi, catapulted to the world stage as a winner of the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition in her early twenties. Ms. Esperian’s career has seen her in leading roles at every major opera house in the world. She has paired many times with such opera greats as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, both in opera performances and in concert.

Many of Ms. Esperian’s performances, both operatic and concert, have been televised throughout the world. Ms. Esperian was featured on film in the documentary Distant Harmony, highlighting her groundbreaking performances in China with Luciano Pavarotti. Ms. Esperian was one of “The Three Sopranos” recorded on Atlantic records and broadcast live on PBS. Other recordings include “Pavarotti: Live from Royal Albert Hall” on the Decca label and Donizetti's Maria Stuarda on the Serenissima label. She has also produced and recorded three CDs on her own label, Goose Hollow. Upcoming performances include the title role in Bizet’s Carmen, with Opera Birmingham, March 16 & 18, 2012
